The Quench of Solitude
I was at a buddy's ranch where herds of cattle roam generally unbothered and at whim. After cutting through some trees and going off-trail we came upon this beautiful clearing near where the property was once dammed. Interestingly enough, I was busy trying to frame a picture of some cattle across the water from us when I heard a stick crack behind me. When I turned around, this beautiful longhorn was beggining his descent from the tree line down towards the water. I captured a handful of great photos, but in this specific framing the contours of the shoreline seem to travel up and transition into those of the cow's face, and then further up from the face to the horn and on to follow the defining line of a tree's reflection in the water to create a wonderful leading line that carries the eyes up and towards the background where the opposite shoreline curves out of frame. This creature simply wanted a sip of water, little did he know that he had become the focal point of a compositon that lends scope to how secluded his oasis truly was.
